After an investigation that has lasted close to a year, former Lostprophets singer and welshman, Ian Watkins, has pleaded guilty to a total of 13 offenses relating to the sexual abuse of children.
Watkins, 36, is being charged with 13 cases of child sex abuse, and has admitted to being a paedophile. Charges include attempting to rape an 11-month old baby, conspiring to rape a child under 13, sexually assaulting a child under 13, and aiding a female co-defendant to sexually assault and rape a child under 13. Watkins has denied the two counts of raping an 11-month old baby.
In addition to the abuse charges, Watkins has also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children, and taking indecent images of children, dating back to 2007.Watkins also pleaded guilty to possessing pornographic material depicting a person engaging in sexual activity with an animal.
The two co-defendants that appeared in court with Watkins are the mothers of children that Watkins has previously assaulted, and conspired with him over several instances of sexual abuse. Messages between Watkins and the two females have been recovered, with a specific message from Watkins stating ‘if you belong to me, so does your baby’.
The court also heard that Watkins contacted the women, telling how he wanted to ‘cross the line’. When one of the women suggested ‘a summer of incest and child porn’, Watkins simply replied ‘hell yes baby’.
It has also been found that Watkins conspired to give the children illicit drugs, and an amount of substances were found in his possession during a raid of his residence.
The court has not requested a trial to be held, and the sentencing of Ian Watkins and the female co-defendants will take place on December 18.
