“Dumb ways to lie”: viral Anti-Abbott content just keeps getting better.

Between the announcing of the budget, the infamous “#WinkGate” scandal and the not-so-subtle plugging of the LNP during a D-Day commemoration, Tony Abbott has bestowed a tsunami of faux pas upon Australia lately. The wonderfully balanced headlines of the Daily Telegraph have caused everyone to begin wondering if Australia’s political landscape is just one huge practical joke in some cruel reality TV show. At least then we would get a free car or something.

Alas, we live in a world where our Prime Minister believes global warming is a farce, that 90s speed internet is a great cost saver and that having subsidised university fees signifies the need to “end the age of entitlement” (unless you’re his own child).

However, one thing we can be thankful for is that we live in a time where it takes a matter of hours to make a hilarious video and turn it viral across the world. Amid the flurry of hilarious memes, videos and songs that have blessed our eyes, we bring you the latest; “Dumb ways to lie”.

Special kudos to anyone who can make Mr Abbott look cute in budgie smugglers. Seriously.

Of course, earlier this week, we saw the astute comedic and animation skills of another YouTube user, who created an Abbott Anthem to the tune of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. His portrayal of Abbott in budgie smugglers ain’t so cute.

WORDS BY CYNDALL MCINERNEY who admittedly wouldn’t mind being compared to a grub that cute.
