A long, slow groan of awkward is ringing out across the world today. News has broken that hundreds of thousands of seemingly private photos shared on the popular app Snapchat have been been intercepted, and subsequently leaked.
As the Sydney Morning Herald first reported, the photos, 13GB in total, were allegedly uploaded to notorious online forum 4chan. Many of them were apparently explicit. Also, the sky is blue. The incident has already earned the moniker of ‘the Snappening’ – because the Fappening is so last month.
A press release by Snapchat confirmed the story, with the company stating that:
It seems like we can’t go a week these days without some form of nude photo scandal making headlines. The digital age is all but making privacy some distant memory.
Still waiting on Zac Efron though.
